Bokashi Composting Workshop + Food Scrap Dye Demo: $12.51 (includes fees)
Join Sustainable Little Tokyo’s 7th Annual Earth Day Celebration at the Little Tokyo Farmers’ Market on Saturday, April 25.
Enjoy a full day of activities, including local nonprofit tabling, a clothing swap, a hand-drawn photo booth, compost distribution, performances, and a community clean-up to celebrate our planet and the plants that sustain us. Bring a tote bag or old T-shirt for live screen printing and upcycle it with an Earth Day design.
For those looking to dive deeper, a ticketed Bokashi Composting Workshop + Food Scrap Dye Demo will be offered.
A free Common Thread: Fabric Upcycling Story & Demo will also run throughout the day, where participants can learn to repurpose used fabrics into zokin, traditional Japanese cleaning cloths. The presenter will share connections to the Japanese concept of "mottainai," Japanese culture, and Zen Buddhism through kamishibai-inspired storytelling at 9:30 am, 11:30 am, and 1:30 pm. Between sessions, participants are invited to create their own zokin using provided materials.
Bring your friends, family, and curiosity as we celebrate Earth Month together. No RSVP required.
