About

Join JACCC for the second hands-on sashiko workshop led by Sanae Suzuki. This workshop is designed for individuals who have completed the Sashiko Basics: Introduction Workshop for Beginners or have fundamental sashiko stitching skills. In this session, you will create a functional sashiko pincushion; a perfect addition to your sewing kit or a thoughtful handmade gift. Learn essential back and blind stitching techniques to finish your pincushion with care, and optionally add color embroidery thread for a personal touch.

Included in the workshop, you’ll receive:

  • Sashiko Threads (color: indigo/royal blue) 20m
  • Sashiko Needles (2/pack, sizes: 1 15/16" and 2 5/8")
  • Sarashi Natural Cotton Cloth
  • Sewing Cotton Thread and Needle
  • Undyed Wool Stuffing
  • Color Embroidery Thread

What to bring or use from JACCC:

  • 6" 8ths Graph Ruler
  • Heat Erasable Rollerball Pen
  • Small Sewing Scissors
  • Marking Pins
  • Optional: You’re welcome to bring your own thimble & needle threaders, as well as your preferred colors of sashiko & embroidery thread.

Under Sanae's guidance, you'll dive into your favorite sashiko stitch patterns or draw inspiration from her pincushion samples. You'll learn how to back and blind stitch to finish your pincushion with care, then bring it to life with colorful embroidery accents, creating a unique and personal handmade piece.
