After an eight-year pause, JACCC is proudly reviving one of its most cherished New Year traditions: the 21st Annual New Year Shikishi Exhibition, on view January 10-24, 2026 at the George J. Doizaki Gallery, alongside the 9th Annual Cultural Ikebana Exhibition (January 10-11, 2026).
For over two decades, the Shikishi Exhibition has welcomed artists of all ages to express their hopes for the year ahead through hand-crafted shikishi boards , a vibrant celebration of Japanese and Japanese American New Year traditions. After going on hiatus in 2018, we are honored to carry this legacy forward once again.
This year’s exhibition rekindles that spirit of renewal, reflection, and community connection. Whether you are a returning participant or discovering shikishi art for the first time, we invite you to join us in celebrating the new year through creativity and cultural expression.
For inquiries about the exhibition, please contact JACCC Curatorial Manager, Julie Zhu, at lzhu@jaccc.org.
