Did you know JACCC had a library on the 2nd floor of the Center Building?
The Franklin D. Murphy Library, honored a distinguished educator and community leader who helped open many doors for JACCC. Its collection contained nearly 12,000 publications of books and magazines with the latest information on Japan and Japanese Americans. Around 1,500 books were circulated per month.
The Library annually sponsored a Japanese speech contest for adults and college students who spoke Japanese as a second language and held many book-signing events for Japanese American authors. Unfortunately, the Library closed down in 2005, but remains an important part of JACCC’s history.
