Shodō for Little Tokyo

Weekly on Wednesdays | 12:15 pm - 1:30 pm
Cultural Room, 500

Shodō for Little Tokyo (小東京の書道) is a free, bilingual English-Japanese calligraphy program designed for local older adults, led by calligraphy artist Kuniharu Yoshida. Through this program, participants explore the timeless art of shodo (Japanese calligraphy) while fostering cross-cultural connections and creativity.

The program spans two semesters and includes engaging workshops that cater to learners of all skill levels. Each session provides an opportunity to practice traditional techniques, express individuality through art, and build a sense of community.

Each semester, the program concludes with an inspiring exhibition, where students showcase their creations, celebrating their journey and contributions to Little Tokyo's vibrant cultural tapestry.

In partnership with Sustainable Little Tokyo and the Little Tokyo Service Center, this initiative supports the preservation and celebration of Japanese heritage while promoting intergenerational and intercultural engagement.
